4.7 µH shielded power inductor for DC-DC rail filtering
The Murata DFE252008C-4R7M=P2 is a 4.7 µH shielded wirewound inductor in the DFE252008C series, built with flat wire on an iron powder core. The flat-wire construction delivers higher saturation current than a round-wire winding of the same footprint — the 1.1 A Isat rating is the ceiling before inductance rolls off, while the 650 mA continuous current rating is the DC load the part carries in normal operation. The 438 mOhm max DCR sets the I²R loss at full rated current to about 185 mW — a figure the 1008 body dissipates without significant self-heating in still air at 85 °C ambient. The 1008 (2520 metric) footprint is a standard size that matches many existing power-stage layouts for POL converters and input/output filter positions.
Shielded construction and temperature range
Shielded construction contains the magnetic flux within the core — this matters when the inductor sits adjacent to sensitive analog circuitry, RF front-ends, or data converters where stray field coupling would inject noise into the signal path. The iron powder core material also exhibits soft saturation behaviour, meaning the inductance rolls off gradually beyond Isat rather than collapsing abruptly. The inductance is tested at 1 MHz, which is the standard test frequency for this value range and gives a consistent reference point for comparing parts across suppliers.
Active production and sourcing posture
The base product number DFE252008C covers the full inductance range in this series, so a BOM change to a different value within the family keeps the same footprint and pad layout. Tape-and-reel packaging supports automated pick-and-place assembly for volume production.
