At 4.8 A continuous, the I²R conduction loss through the 33 mOhm winding is roughly 0.76 W — this sets the self-heating temperature rise inside the 0806 package. The metal core's thermal conductivity helps pull heat into the PCB copper, so the actual temperature rise at full rated current depends on the board's copper pour and via density under the part. At the high end, the DCR increases with temperature per the copper temperature coefficient — the effective resistance at 125°C is roughly 1.4× the 25°C value, so the I²R loss at the same current rises accordingly. Budget this derating if the inductor runs near its thermal limit in a 105°C ambient. Shielded construction contains the magnetic flux within the core body, reducing radiated EMI coupling to nearby traces and sensitive analog circuits.
