2.2 µH shielded power inductor for DC-DC rails
The Murata DFE201210U-2R2M=P2 is a 2.2 µH shielded wirewound inductor in the 0805 (2012 Metric) package, part of the DFE201210U series. It carries a 1.2 A continuous current rating and a 2 A saturation current (Isat), with a max DC resistance of 228 mOhm. The metal core and shielded construction keep EMI from coupling into nearby traces — a common concern when routing a DC-DC converter close to a sensor front-end or RF section on a space-constrained board.
Current rating and saturation margin
The 1.2 A rated current is the DC bias at which the inductance typically drops 30% from the nominal 2.2 µH. The 2 A saturation current is the hard ceiling where inductance collapses — a converter with a 1 A peak inductor current stays well inside the linear region. The 228 mOhm max DCR at 25°C translates to about 274 mW of I²R loss at 1.2 A. In a typical 1 MHz buck converter, this is the dominant conduction loss and sets the temperature rise above ambient. Inductance is tested at 1 MHz, which aligns with the switching frequency of most modern POL converters and charge-pump circuits.
0805 footprint and board integration
The 1.00 mm seated height keeps the profile low enough for 1.6 mm-thick PCB assemblies in card-edge or mezzanine stacks.
