2.2 µH shielded power inductor — parametric fit for DC-DC output stages
The Murata DFE201208S-2R2M=P2 is a 2.2 µH shielded wirewound inductor in the DFE201208S series, built with a metal composite core. It is designed for surface-mount power supply filtering, typically on the output side of a buck converter where the inductor stores and releases energy to smooth the voltage rail. Rated for 1.4 A continuous current with a saturation current (Isat) of 1.8 A — the inductance value holds stable up to the saturation limit, above which the core saturates and the inductance drops sharply. The 204 mOhm maximum DC resistance sets the I²R conduction loss; at 1.4 A the self-heating from DCR alone is about 0.4 W, which must be dissipated through the PCB copper.

0805 footprint and thermal integration
The low profile suits tight board stacks in portable or embedded designs where the component height is constrained by an enclosure or a second PCB above. The metal core material improves saturation current density over ferrite but has higher core loss at high switching frequencies — above 2–3 MHz the AC loss may dominate the thermal budget, so the 1 MHz test frequency for the inductance value is a good reference point for the intended switching range.
