Board-level EMI suppression with automotive traceability
The BLM15EG221SZ1D is a single-line ferrite bead in the Murata BLM series, housed in an 0402 (1005 metric) package. It delivers 220 Ohms impedance at 100 MHz — the frequency band where conducted EMI from switching regulators and digital clocks couples onto power or signal traces. Rated for 700 mA continuous current with a maximum DC resistance of 280 mOhm. That DCR puts the self-heating at roughly 0.14 W at full rated current — well within the 0402 body's dissipation capacity in a standard FR4 layout, but the temperature rise should be verified if the bead is placed in a high-density region with limited copper pour. AEC-Q200 qualified — the part carries the full automotive passive-component stress test suite (thermal shock, vibration, humidity, solder heat resistance) per the AEC-Q200 Rev D standard. This is not a 'capable' industrial part; it has the PPAP-ready documentation an OEM auditor expects for under-hood or cabin electronics. The 125°C upper limit matches the solder-joint reliability ceiling for 0402 terminations on standard PCB finishes.
