Impedance and current — the fit decision
The BLM15BB050SN1D is a Murata EMIFIL® series ferrite bead with a 5 Ohm impedance at 100 MHz — this is the attenuation point for conducted noise on a signal or low-current power rail. The 500 mA current rating is the DC bias limit; above this the ferrite core saturates and the effective impedance drops, so the bead is sized for signal lines or light supply filtering, not a main power bus.
Package and board-fit
Housed in an 0402 (1005 metric) SMD package, 1.00 mm x 0.55 mm footprint with a 0.55 mm seated height. Single-line filter — one bead per rail or signal trace. Surface-mount only; the small body demands a controlled reflow profile and adequate solder paste volume to avoid tombstoning.
