8-MSOP digital temp sensor with I²C bus
The TCN75AVUA713 is a digital local temperature sensor from Microchip Technology, packaged in an 8-MSOP (3.00 mm width) footprint. It communicates over a standard I²C bus, making it a drop-in for any 2-wire serial interface on a microcontroller or FPGA. The 11-bit resolution gives 0.0625 °C per LSB — enough granularity for thermal monitoring in motor drives, battery chargers, or industrial control panels. The on-chip output switch and programmable limit register let the sensor assert an alert pin without polling the bus — useful for overtemperature shutdown in a power supply or charger.

What the ±2°C accuracy means on the bench
At 25 °C ambient the typical error is lower, but the datasheet guarantee is ±2 °C — so a system that must stay within ±1.5 °C of a setpoint needs a calibration step or a tighter-grade sensor. Programmable resolution lets the user trade conversion time for noise. At 11 bits the conversion completes in about 30 ms typical; dropping to 9 bits halves the time but doubles the LSB size. For a fan-speed control loop that updates every 100 ms, 11 bits is fine — for a fast overtrip, the lower resolution may be acceptable.
