Programmable features and I²C bus integration
Beyond basic temperature readout, the TCN75AVUA includes an output switch, programmable limit registers, programmable resolution, and a shutdown mode. The output switch can trigger an interrupt or fan control when temperature crosses a user-set threshold — useful for overtemperature protection in motor drives or power supplies. The I²C interface allows daisy-chaining multiple sensors on the same two-wire bus, with the device address set by pin strapping. The 11-bit resolution gives 0.125°C per LSB, adequate for thermal monitoring where ±0.5°C granularity is sufficient. Shutdown mode drops the quiescent current to microamp levels, preserving battery life in portable or remote sensor nodes that wake periodically to log temperature.
