2 GHz fanout buffer with multi-protocol input
The Microchip Technology SY89876LMG-TR is a 1:2 fanout buffer and divider from the Precision Edge® family, handling clock distribution up to 2 GHz. It accepts CML, HSTL, LVDS, or LVPECL input levels and outputs LVDS, making it a flexible signal-conditioning block for high-speed clock trees where the input standard is not yet fixed at design time. The 2 GHz maximum frequency means this part can buffer a 10 GbE reference clock or a 12.5 Gbps SerDes core clock without jitter accumulation from the fanout stage itself. The differential input and output path (Yes/Yes per the spec) preserves signal integrity across the buffer.
Supply, package, and temperature grade
The industrial temperature range (-40°C to 85°C) suits base-station, test equipment, and outdoor networking gear where the ambient inside the enclosure can hit 70°C. The 1:2 ratio means only one fanout per package — plan for multiple instances if the clock tree needs more than two branches.
