1.8 V parallel NOR Flash for space-constrained, low-power designs
The Microchip SST39WF800B-70-4I-MAQE is an 8 Mbit parallel NOR Flash from the SST39 MPF™ family, organized as 512K x 16 and accessed in 70 ns. Its 1.65 V to 1.95 V supply range lets it run directly from a 1.8 V rail — no external level translator needed when paired with a 1.8 V MCU or FPGA bank. The 48-WFBGA (6x4 mm) footprint saves board area, making it a fit for portable instruments, battery-powered data loggers, and compact industrial controllers where every square millimeter counts.
A 70 ns access time means the part can serve zero-wait-state reads on MCUs running up to about 14 MHz without stretching the bus cycle. At higher core clocks the memory controller inserts one or two wait states, which is typical for NOR Flash of this density. The parallel interface is straightforward to hook up — address, data, chip-enable, output-enable, write-enable — and the 40 µs write-cycle time per word or page is the figure to budget for firmware updates or calibration storage.
ROHS3 compliant.
