The Microchip SST26VF016-80-5I-S2AE-T is a 16 Mbit non-volatile Flash memory from the SST26 SQI® family, organised as 2M x 8 bits. Its headline feature is the SPI Quad-I/O interface running at 80 MHz, which quadruples read throughput over a standard SPI bus at the same clock — useful for execute-in-place (XIP) firmware or fast parameter-logging reads without tying up the MCU's main bus.
Why the Quad-I/O matters for the BOM
That difference matters when the Flash is the code-storage device and the MCU runs XIP: the 80 MHz Quad-I/O keeps the instruction fetch pipe fed without wait-state insertion. The SST25VF016B also lacks the industrial temperature range, so a design that needs -40°C operation must move to the SST26 family.
The SST26 SQI® series is Microchip's current-generation serial Flash family, which means the die and package are in active wafer-fab and assembly — no imminent end-of-life risk.
The device comes in an 8-pin SOIC package with a 5.30 mm body width (0.209″), surface-mount.
