1500W surge clamp for 9V rails
The SMCJ9.0AE3/TR13 is a Zener-type TVS diode from Microchip Technology, rated for 1500W peak pulse power at the 10/1000µs waveform. That 1500W rating means it can absorb a 97.4A peak pulse current while clamping at 15.4V maximum — enough headroom to protect a 9V supply rail from transients without letting the spike through to downstream ICs.
Voltage thresholds and protection window
Reverse standoff voltage is 9V — the rail sits below this during normal operation, so the TVS stays off. Breakdown triggers at 10V minimum, and clamping holds at 15.4V maximum under full surge current. The gap between standoff and clamp defines the protection margin: a 9V rail sees the TVS conduct only when a transient pushes past 10V, and the clamp voltage stays low enough to protect most 12V-rated downstream parts.
Active production, surface-mount package
That temperature grade covers industrial and outdoor equipment without derating concerns.
Unidirectional, general-purpose protection
This is a single unidirectional channel — it clamps positive transients referenced to ground. Power line protection is not supported (the part is not designed for AC mains); it is intended for general-purpose DC rail protection.
