It clamps transients on an 8V nominal rail, with a minimum breakdown voltage of 8.89V and a maximum clamping voltage of 15V at the rated peak pulse current of 100A. The single bidirectional channel protects both positive and negative surges on a single line, eliminating the need for two unidirectional devices in series.

The 8.89V minimum breakdown voltage provides margin above the 8V reverse standoff, ensuring the diode does not conduct during normal rail voltage. The 15V maximum clamping voltage at 100A peak pulse current limits the voltage seen by the protected circuit during a transient event. Operating temperature range from -65°C to 150°C covers extreme environments such as outdoor telecom cabinets, automotive underhood, and industrial control enclosures without derating concerns.
