Transient protection for a 7.5V rail
The SMCJ7.5E3/TR13 is a unidirectional Zener TVS diode in a DO-214AB (SMC) package, rated for 1500W peak pulse power (10/1000µs waveform). Its 7.5V reverse standoff voltage makes it a direct fit for protecting 5V and 3.3V logic rails, sensor supplies, or general-purpose DC buses where the normal operating voltage stays under 7.5V. The 8.33V minimum breakdown voltage gives a clean clamping threshold before the 14.3V maximum clamp at 104.9A peak pulse current.
Clamping voltage and pulse current
At the 1500W peak pulse power level, the device clamps at 14.3V maximum while conducting 104.9A. That clamp voltage is the ceiling the protected circuit sees — a downstream 5V rail with a 6.5V absolute max input will survive this transient, but the margin is tight. For a 3.3V rail, a lower-voltage TVS in the same SMCJ family would be a better fit.
