The SMCJ7.0CE3/TR13 is a bidirectional Zener TVS diode rated for 1500W peak pulse power (10/1000µs waveform) with a 7V reverse standoff voltage. The single bidirectional channel clamps both polarities, so a single component protects AC signal lines or bipolar DC rails up to 7V nominal.
Clamping voltage and current handling
Breakdown voltage minimum is 7.78V, clamping at 13.3V max at the rated peak pulse current of 112.8A. The 13.3V clamp ceiling means a 12V rail is too high — the TVS would conduct during normal operation. For a 12V bus, look at the SMCJ12A or similar 12V standoff variant. The 112.8A peak pulse current is the surge the part can absorb once; repetitive events need derating per the datasheet pulse derating curve.
