Zener TVS for 160 V rail protection
Its 1500 W peak pulse power rating (10/1000 µs waveform) and 287 V clamping voltage at 5.2 A peak pulse current define the surge-handling envelope for the protected circuit.
The minimum breakdown voltage is 178 V, which gives a guard band above the 160 V reverse standoff — the TVS stays off during normal line operation. The 287 V maximum clamp sets the voltage the downstream components must survive; if the protected device's absolute maximum rating is below that, a lower-clamp part or additional protection stage is needed.
