TVS diode for 150V rail protection
The SMCJ150E3/TR13 is a Zener-type TVS diode from Microchip Technology, rated for 1500W peak pulse power (10/1000µs waveform) with a reverse standoff voltage of 150V and a maximum clamping voltage of 268V at the peak pulse current of 5.6A. It protects a single unidirectional line in general-purpose applications, mounted in the DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package.
Clamping voltage and pulse current sizing
The 268V clamping voltage at 5.6A peak pulse current sets the upper limit the downstream circuitry must withstand — a key parameter for selecting the TVS over a 150V rail where transients could exceed the breakdown voltage of 167V minimum.
