Transient protection for 12 V rails — 1500 W in a single bidirectional device
Breakdown starts at 15.6 V (min), and clamping is specified at 23.2 V (max) when the peak pulse current reaches 64.7 A. The 8 V window between standoff and clamp gives the downstream regulator or IC a defined overvoltage ceiling — a tighter window than some generic 1.5 kW TVS parts, which matters when the protected device has a 30 V absolute maximum rating.
Package and temperature range — board-fit notes
The DO-214AB (SMC) package is a standard JEDEC outline with a copper tab on the cathode side — the PCB land pattern should follow the manufacturer's recommended pad geometry to keep the thermal impedance low during a surge event. The 1.5 kW rating is derated above 25°C per the datasheet curve; at 125°C junction, the peak pulse power typically drops to about 75% of the 25°C value.
