12V Rail Protection in a DO-214AB SMC Package
Its 12V reverse standoff voltage means it will not conduct during normal operation on a 12V supply, but triggers at a minimum breakdown of 13.3V to shunt surge current away from sensitive downstream components. The clamping voltage is held to 22V at the peak pulse current of 68.2A, giving a 10V headroom above the standoff — a reasonable margin for most 12V logic and power supplies.
