8V rail protection with 600W surge capacity
Its reverse standoff voltage is 8V, breakdown minimum is 8.89V, and clamping voltage at peak pulse current is 15V max — so a 12V supply rail is too high, but an 8V bus or a 5V rail with margin is exactly where this part lives. That is enough for most industrial transient events on a low-voltage DC bus without needing a larger package.
Operating junction temperature range is -65°C to 150°C — military/industrial grade. Board layout is straightforward — the cathode band marks the bidirectional orientation, and the package stands off well for wave solder or reflow.
The base product number is SMBJ8.0; the CE3 suffix indicates the lead-free / RoHS-compliant finish.
