5.6 V Zener — 2 W in a DO-214AA body
The SMBJ5919BE3/TR13 is a 5.6 V Zener diode rated for 2 W continuous power dissipation in the DO-214AA (SMB) surface-mount package.
What the ratings mean on the bench
The 2 W power rating at 25°C ambient means this diode can shunt up to roughly 357 mA at the nominal Zener voltage (2 W / 5.6 V) before exceeding its thermal limit — derate for elevated ambient temperature per the datasheet curve. The 2 Ohm maximum Zener impedance (Zzt) at the test current keeps the regulation slope tight: a 100 mA change in load current shifts the output voltage by only about 200 mV. Reverse leakage is specified at 5 µA maximum at 3 V reverse bias — well below the 5.6 V Zener knee, so the diode draws negligible current until it reaches the regulation region. This matters for battery-powered bias dividers where every microamp counts. The DO-214AA package footprint is standard — same land pattern as the common SMBJ series, so a rework station can swap it without a custom stencil.
Tolerance and compliance at a glance
±5% tolerance on the Zener voltage is the standard precision for general-purpose clamping and reference circuits — no need to sort or bin for most designs. Supplied in Tape & Reel (TR) with Cut Tape (CT) option — the reel quantity suits automated pick-and-place assembly; the cut-tape variant works for prototype runs and small-batch repairs.
