40V standoff, 64.5V clamp – rail protection in DO-214AA
The 40V reverse standoff voltage means the device sits across the supply line without conducting until a surge pushes it above the 44.4V minimum breakdown. At that point it clamps to 64.5V maximum while shunting 9.3A peak pulse current in the standard 10/1000µs waveform. For a 40V bus, the margin between standoff and clamp is tight enough to protect downstream silicon rated at 60V or higher.
Package and temperature range — SMB (DO-214AA) on tape
The −65°C to 150°C junction temperature range covers military and industrial environments — the device conducts leakage well below 1 mA at 150°C, but the junction temperature rise from a single 600W pulse is brief enough to stay within the SOA. Supplied in Tape & Reel, the SMBJ40AE3/TR13 is ready for automated pick-and-place.
Active lifecycle – no EOL watch needed
Microchip lists the SMBJ40AE3/TR13 as Active.
