Active Zener TVS for 30V Rail Protection
The SMBJ30CE3/TR13 is a bidirectional Zener TVS diode from Microchip Technology, designed to clamp transient overvoltage on a 30V nominal rail. Its 600W peak pulse power rating (10/1000µs waveform) provides enough energy absorption for industrial surge events without sacrificing board space.
Clamping Voltage and Pulse Current
With a breakdown voltage minimum of 33.3V and a maximum clamping voltage of 53.5V at 11.2A peak pulse current, this device limits the voltage seen by the protected circuit to 53.5V under surge. The 30V reverse standoff voltage means it stays transparent on a 30V bus, only conducting when the transient exceeds the breakdown threshold.
Housed in the DO-214AA (SMB) surface-mount package, the SMBJ30CE3/TR13 is supplied on Tape & Reel for automated assembly. Its operating junction temperature range of -65°C to 150°C covers most industrial and automotive under-hood environments, though it is not formally AEC-Q101 qualified per the evidence.
