Peak pulse power and clamping specs
The SMBJ24CAE3/TR13: Rated for 600W peak pulse power per the 10/1000 µs waveform — this is the surge rating that determines whether the TVS absorbs the transient without failing short. Clamping voltage is 38.9V max at the 15.4A peak pulse current, so the protected rail sees no more than that during an event. Bidirectional single-channel Zener design — the clamping is symmetrical, which matters for AC signal lines or floating differential pairs where polarity is not fixed.
The SMB footprint is larger than the SMA sibling, offering a lower thermal resistance to the board copper — useful when the average power dissipation is non-zero.
The base product number SMBJ24 is a standard Microchip TVS family with broad distribution coverage. Sourced per RFQ against BOM quantity.
