Zener TVS for 17V rail clamping – 600W peak pulse
The breakdown voltage min is 18.9V and clamping max is 27.6V at 21.7A peak pulse current. This part is designed for general-purpose circuit protection on 12V or 15V DC rails where a bidirectional clamp is needed.
With a reverse standoff of 17V, this TVS will not conduct at normal rail voltage up to 17V. If a transient pushes the rail above 18.9V (min breakdown), the diode starts clamping. The maximum clamping voltage of 27.6V at 21.7A peak pulse current tells you the highest voltage the protected circuitry must survive during a surge. The 600W peak pulse rating is the energy-handling capability under the 10/1000µs test waveform.
DO-214AA SMB – surface-mount footprint
The DO-214AA (SMB) package is a common two-pad surface-mount footprint. No power line protection feature – this is a signal or low-power rail clamp, not a mains surge protector.
