16 V rail protection – 17.8 V breakdown floor
Its minimum breakdown voltage of 17.8 V ensures the device stays off during normal operation, while the maximum clamping voltage of 28.8 V at the peak pulse current of 20.8 A limits the surge seen by the load.
Clamping voltage and surge current – the BOM-fit numbers
The 28.8 V clamping ceiling at 20.8 A is the critical number for downstream component selection: any IC on the protected rail must have an absolute maximum rating above 28.8 V.
DO-214AA SMB – rework and footprint notes
The DO-214AA (SMB) package is a two-terminal JEDEC outline with a gull-wing lead form. It reflows well under standard lead-free profiles and is hand-solderable with a fine-tip iron. The cathode band is marked on the body for orientation.
