90V rail protection in a 500W SMA package
Its 500W peak pulse power rating gives the design margin to absorb surges from inductive load switching or lightning-coupled events without sacrificing board space — the DO-214AC (SMA) footprint fits tight layouts where a through-hole part would not.
The minimum breakdown voltage is 100V, which means the device starts conducting at least 10V above the 90V standoff. A 160V clamp on a 90V rail leaves a 70V headroom, which is typical for a 90V-rated TVS and works with downstream components rated for 200V or higher.
Microchip lists the SMAJ90E3/TR13 as Active.
The junction temperature range is -65°C to 150°C, which covers industrial and most automotive under-hood environments.
