8.5V Zener TVS in DO-214AC — 500W Clamp for General-Purpose Rail Protection
The SMAJ8.5E3/TR13 is a unidirectional Zener TVS diode from Microchip Technology, designed to clamp transients on an 8.5V nominal rail. The 8.5V reverse standoff voltage means the diode stays transparent below that DC level, then avalanches at a minimum breakdown of 9.44V. Clamping is specified at 15.9V maximum at 31.4A peak pulse current — the voltage a downstream IC sees during a surge.
Microchip lists the SMAJ8.5E3/TR13 as Active.
The DO-214AC (SMA) package is a standard JEDEC outline — the same footprint used by Littelfuse, Vishay, and Bourns for their SMAJ-series parts.
