7.5V rail clamp in a DO-214AC footprint
The SMAJ7.5E3/TR13 is a unidirectional Zener TVS diode from Microchip, designed to clamp transients on a 7.5V nominal rail (reverse standoff voltage,). Breakdown occurs at 8.33V minimum, and the clamping voltage is held to 14.3V at the peak pulse current of 35A. That 14.3V ceiling is what matters for downstream IC survival — the rail sees no more than that during the surge event.
The wide Tj range also means derating at elevated temperatures is less aggressive than with commercial-grade parts.
Listed as Active, the SMAJ7.5E3/TR13 is in ongoing production at Microchip.
