Zener voltage and regulation margin
The SMAJ4734E3/TR13 is a 5.6 V Zener diode with ±10% tolerance, so the regulation window spans 5.04 V to 6.16 V. For a 5 V rail shunt clamp or a low-voltage reference, that spread sets the guard band the downstream circuit must tolerate.
Power handling and thermal budget
Rated for 2 W maximum power dissipation in the DO-214AC (SMA) package. The junction-to-ambient thermal path is dominated by the copper pad area under the cathode tab — the datasheet derating curve should be referenced when the diode operates above 25 °C ambient. With a maximum Zener impedance of 5 Ohms at the test current, the voltage shift under a 100 mA load step is about 0.5 V — enough to matter in a precision reference but acceptable for general-purpose clamping or transient suppression.
Temperature range and reverse leakage
Reverse leakage is 10 µA maximum at 2 V reverse bias — negligible for most bias networks, but at 150°C the leakage multiplies per the Zener's temperature coefficient and should be budgeted in high-impedance circuits.
