The DO-214AC (SMA) surface-mount package is a workhorse footprint — easy to hand-rework with hot air, and the large cathode tab (shared with the anode in a bidirectional die) sinks pulse heat into the board copper.

Clamping voltage and pulse current

For a 24V rail, this TVS is overkill — the 43V standoff is well above the rail, so the part never conducts during normal operation.
