The 500W peak pulse power rating is specified with a 10/1000µs waveform — real-world pulse width and duty cycle affect derating, but for a 22V rail this part handles typical inductive-load or hot-plug spikes without issue.
Peak pulse current and clamping voltage — the transient budget
That current drives the clamping voltage to 35.5V, which is the voltage the protected IC sees during the transient. For a 22V rail, a 35.5V clamp gives about 13.5V of headroom above the rail — enough for most 30V-tolerant downstream parts, but check the absolute maximum rating of the load before committing.
