15V rail clamp, 500W pulse, DO-214AC
Its 15V reverse standoff voltage means it stays off the rail below that level, then clamps at 26.9V max when the surge hits — a 1.8× clamping factor that keeps downstream silicon safe. Rated for 500W peak pulse power under the 10/1000 µs waveform, it handles 18.8A peak pulse current — enough for typical industrial and telecom board-level protection where the fault energy is limited by upstream fusing or PTCs.
DO-214AC rework and footprint reality
The SMA footprint is forgiving under a hot-air station: the pads are large enough to wet with a fine-tip iron, and the body thermal mass is low, so a 300°C hot-air profile at low flow lifts the part cleanly without cooking adjacent passives. Operating temperature spans -65°C to 150°C junction, so the part survives reflow profiles (peak 260°C) and field extremes from cold outdoor enclosures to hot motor-drive cabinets.
