12V rail protection in a single bidirectional die

The 13.3V minimum breakdown voltage guarantees avalanche conduction begins before the protected load sees an overvoltage, with margin for rail tolerance and temperature drift.
At the peak pulse current of 25.1A (10/1000µs waveform), the clamping voltage is 19.9V maximum. This is the voltage the downstream IC must survive; if your 12V-powered device has a 20V absolute maximum rating, this TVS leaves only 0.1V of headroom at the surge peak — a tight margin that may require a lower-clamp part or a secondary protection stage. The 500W peak pulse power rating defines the energy the diode can absorb in a single 1 ms surge; repeated or longer-duration events require derating per the datasheet curve.
