The SMAJ11E3/TR13: This matters for BOM continuity: you can design it in or replenish stock without chasing obsolete inventory.
500W peak pulse power – what it handles on the rail
Rated for 500W peak pulse power under the 10/1000µs waveform, this Zener TVS clamps transients at 20.1V max while conducting 24.9A peak pulse current. The 11V reverse standoff means it stays off the 11V DC rail until a surge pushes the voltage above the 12.2V breakdown threshold. For a 12V or 11V rail, this is the right clamp voltage — it won't trigger on normal ripple but catches spikes before they reach downstream silicon.
DO-214AC (SMA) – common footprint, easy rework
Packaged in DO-214AC (SMA), a surface-mount package with a 0.065-inch body width. The pad layout matches standard SMA footprints used across the industry. Reflow profile is typical for lead-free solder — 260°C peak. The Tape & Reel delivery feeds pick-and-place directly.
That covers cold-start in outdoor enclosures and hot spots near power stages. The 150°C upper limit gives margin above typical 85°C ambient when derating for self-heating during a pulse.
