The package is a 48-TQFP with an exposed pad (7x7 mm body). The tape-and-reel option (Cut Tape also available) feeds pick-and-place without a feeder change.

Forty-four I/O pins give you headroom for a parallel LCD data bus, a row of pushbuttons, and a handful of status LEDs while still leaving serial lines free. The 43-channel 12-bit ADC can sample a bank of analog sensors — thermistors, potentiometers, current-shunt amplifiers — without an external mux. The 1K x 8 EEPROM is handy for storing calibration constants or configuration bytes that survive a firmware update.
