Through-hole 8-bit MCU with 64 MHz core and integrated analog
The Microchip PIC18F46Q43-I/P is an 8-bit PIC® XLP™ 18F microcontroller in a 40-pin DIP through-hole package (40-PDIP, 0.600" width).
At 64 MHz this PIC18F executes most single-cycle instructions in about 15.6 ns. For an 8-bit architecture that is a practical speed ceiling for bit-banged protocols, tight control loops, and software UARTs without needing a dedicated peripheral.
Analog integration: 35-channel ADC and 8-bit DAC
The 35-channel 12-bit ADC covers a lot of sensor inputs — thermistors, potentiometers, current-sense resistors — without external muxing. The single 8-bit DAC provides a reference or analog output for simple signal generation.
Built-in brown-out detect, reset, low-voltage detect, POR, PWM, and WDT reduce external supervisory ICs. With 36 I/O lines in a 40-pin package, most pins are available for general-purpose use after allocating the serial interfaces.
Lifecycle and ordering
Microchip lists the PIC18F46Q43-I/P as an Active product. It is ROHS3 compliant and belongs to the PIC® XLP™ 18F series. The base product number is PIC18F46.
