Product details

The Microchip PIC16LF1829-E/ML is an 8-bit PIC MCU running at 32 MHz, with 14 KB of Flash program memory, 1 KB of SRAM, and 256 bytes of EEPROM.

QFN rework — what to expect

The 20-QFN (4x4 mm) with exposed pad is a hand-solderable package if you have a hot-air station and a fine tip. The exposed pad is the main thermal and electrical ground — make sure your PCB has a via array under it to pull heat away and to give the solder paste a place to wick. Orientation is marked by a chamfer on pin 1 corner; the pad is symmetric, so you can't rotate it 180° and still have the pinout match. Pre-bake at 125°C for 24 hours if the moisture-barrier bag has been open — MSL 3 parts can pop during reflow if they've absorbed humidity.

The part is ROHS3 compliant.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between PIC16LF1829 and PIC16LF1829-E/ML?

The PIC16LF1829-E/ML is the extended-temperature (-40°C to 125°C) version in a 20-QFN package. The -E/ML suffix explicitly specifies the temperature grade and package.
