8-bit PIC with 20 MHz core and 7 KB Flash
It runs at 20 MHz and carries 7 KB (4K x 14) of Flash program memory, 368 bytes of RAM, and 256 bytes of EEPROM — enough for moderate-complexity firmware in sensor interfaces, motor control, or serial communication nodes. The 16 general-purpose I/O pins connect to switches, LEDs, and external peripherals directly, while the integrated I2C, SPI, and UART/USART serial interfaces handle board-level data links. The 4V to 5.5V supply range keeps it on the standard 5V logic rail — no step-down regulator needed when the rest of the board runs at 5V. The internal oscillator frees up two I/O pins that would otherwise be tied to an external crystal, though the external clock option remains available for applications needing tighter timing accuracy. On-chip peripherals include a 7-channel 10-bit ADC for analog sensor readout, a PWM module for LED dimming or motor speed control, and a watchdog timer with brown-out detect and POR for reliable unattended operation. The 368 bytes of RAM are adequate for small data buffers and state variables; the 256-byte EEPROM stores calibration constants or configuration settings across power cycles.
Industrial temperature range and QFN package
It is not rated for under-hood or downhole environments where junction temperatures exceed 85°C. The 28-VQFN package with exposed pad (6x6 mm body) requires a thermal land pattern and via stitching on the PCB to pull heat from the die into the ground plane.
No separate Pb-free re-qualification is needed if your assembly line already runs ROHS-compatible profiles.
