8-bit MCU with 32 MHz internal oscillator and 125°C rating
The Microchip PIC16F1825-E/P is an 8-bit PIC core MCU from the PIC® XLP™ mTouch™ 16F family, clocked at 32 MHz with an internal oscillator that eliminates the external crystal in many designs. It carries 14KB (8K x 14) Flash program memory, 1K x 8 RAM, and 256 x 8 EEPROM, with 11 general-purpose I/O lines.
14KB Flash and 1K x 8 RAM — sizing the firmware and data budget
The 14KB Flash (8K x 14 words) is adequate for moderate-complexity firmware — sensor polling, PID control loops, LIN or I²C communication stacks, and simple user interfaces. The 1K x 8 SRAM limits data buffering; designs logging more than a few hundred samples between writes will need to stream to EEPROM or external memory. The 256 x 8 EEPROM is useful for calibration constants, configuration parameters, or fault logs that must survive a power cycle without wear-leveling overhead.
The wide supply range from 1.8V to 5.5V means the MCU can run directly from a 3.6V Li-ion cell, a 5V regulated rail, or even two alkaline cells in series without an external LDO. This simplifies the power tree and reduces BOM cost in battery-operated or space-constrained designs. The internal oscillator operates across the full voltage range, so no clock degradation at low Vdd.
