What this 8-bit PIC brings to a through-hole design
The Microchip PIC16F15244-I/P is an 8-bit MCU from the PIC® 16F series with Functional Safety (FuSa) support, running at 32 MHz.
32 MHz core and 7 KB Flash — sizing the firmware and throughput
At 32 MHz, the PIC16F15244 executes most single-cycle instructions, giving a throughput of roughly 8 MIPS. The 7 KB Flash (organized as 4K x 14-bit words) is enough for moderate control loops, sensor fusion, or LIN-bus node firmware. The 512-byte RAM handles a few packet buffers and stack frames; if your application needs larger data arrays, the PIC16LF1559-I/SS offers the same core speed and Flash size but in a surface-mount SSOP-20 package and with a 17-channel ADC — a functional alternative if the through-hole requirement is flexible.
It is ROHS3 compliant.
