20 MHz 8-bit PIC with 7 KB Flash in a 28-pin DIP
It runs at 20 MHz and carries 7 KB of Flash program memory (4K x 14 words) with 256 x 8 bytes of RAM. Serial connectivity covers I²C, LINbus, SPI, and UART/USART, which covers the common sensor and actuator interface needs for an 8-bit control application.
25 I/O and peripheral set
With 25 I/O lines available, this 28-pin DIP leaves most pins usable for general-purpose digital or analog input. The 17-channel 10-bit ADC is sized for reading multiple analog sensors — thermistors, potentiometers, current-sense resistors — without an external mux. The PWM module drives LEDs, small DC motors, or a piezo buzzer directly. Brown-out detect and the watchdog timer are standard for industrial firmware that needs to recover from a glitch without a manual reset.
Microchip lists the PIC16F1513-I/SP as Active product status, so there is no end-of-life or last-time-buy pressure for current designs.
