Eight ports, three PoE standards, one QFN
The Microchip PD69208MILQ-TR-LE is an 8-channel Power over Ethernet (PoE) PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment) controller that handles 802.3af (PoE), 802.3at (PoE+), and 802.3bt (up to 90 W per port) standards in a single 56-VFQFN package with an exposed pad. It integrates the internal power switches for each channel, so the bill of materials stays tight — no external MOSFETs per port. The auxiliary sense line (Yes) lets the controller detect legacy or non-standard PDs that don't follow the signature resistance handshake, useful for retrofit or proprietary endpoints. Supply voltage spans 32 V to 57 V, matching typical PoE midspan injector rails or switch backplane voltages. The 14 mA supply current is the controller's own draw; the 90 W figure is the total power budget available across the eight ports, not per-port — port power is allocated by the controller's firmware under the 802.3bt classification rules.
That means Microchip is still manufacturing it, there is no last-time-buy window closing, and the part is qualified for new production builds.
Industrial temperature and QFN layout
The pad is also the main ground return for the power stage, so the layout should tie it to the system ground plane with low inductance.
