Dual 150mA LDO in a 1x1mm footprint
The MIC5380-PPYFT-TR from Microchip Technology is a dual-output linear regulator delivering two independent 150mA rails at a fixed 3V each. It packs into the 6-TMLF package measuring just 1x1mm, making it a fit for space-constrained designs like wearables, sensor modules, or compact IoT endpoints where PCB real estate is the binding constraint. With a 5.5V maximum input, it draws from common 3.3V or 5V bus rails. The 310mV dropout at full load means the input must stay above 3.31V to hold the 3V output in regulation across the 150mA range.
PSRR and noise rejection for analog rails
Power supply rejection ratio is specified at 60dB at 1kHz. This matters when the LDO feeds a sensitive analog front-end — an ADC reference or op-amp supply — where upstream switching noise at that frequency would otherwise couple into the signal path. At 60dB, a 10mV ripple on the input is attenuated to roughly 10µV at the output at 1kHz. Quiescent current sits at 45µA typical, rising to 85µA maximum. In battery-powered designs, this Iq is the baseline drain when the load is light — it sets the floor for standby current alongside the enable pin, which can shut down both outputs.
