Fixed 1.8V rail with 300mA headroom
The MIC5318-1.8YMT-TR is a single-output positive LDO from Microchip Technology, delivering a fixed 1.8V output at up to 300mA from a maximum 6V input rail. This makes it a direct fit for powering 1.8V logic cores, I/O banks, or analog front-ends in portable and industrial designs where a clean, regulated rail is needed.
PSRR and noise rejection across the audio band
Power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) is specified at 75dB at 1kHz, rolling off to 55dB at 20kHz. This means the regulator attenuates ripple and switching noise on the input by a factor of several thousand at low frequencies, which is relevant when the supply comes from a DC-DC converter or a noisy digital rail. The 20kHz figure still provides useful rejection for audio-band applications. Quiescent current is 150 µA, a moderate figure that balances low-power operation with the fast transient response needed to keep the output stable during load steps from the 300mA maximum.
6-TMLF package and rework considerations
Housed in a 6-lead UFDFN with exposed pad (Microchip's 6-TMLF®, 1.6x1.6mm body), this is a small, low-profile package suited for space-constrained boards. For the rework bench, the pad is large enough that hot-air removal is straightforward, but the small body means the soldering iron tip needs fine control to avoid bridging the adjacent pins.
Industrial temperature range and protection
On-chip protection includes over-current and over-temperature shutdown, which guards the load and the regulator itself during fault conditions. An Enable pin allows the output to be gated for sequenced power-up or low-power sleep modes.
