Fixed 4V LDO for low-power rails
The MIC5203-4.0YM5-TR is a fixed-output 4V LDO regulator from Microchip Technology, delivering up to 80 mA from a maximum input of 16 V. The 0.6 V dropout at full load means the input rail can dip to 4.6 V before the output falls out of regulation — useful when the supply is a 5 V bus with ripple or a battery nearing end of discharge. The SOT-23-5 package (SC-74A, SOT-753) keeps the footprint small for space-constrained PCBs.
Protection and control for reliable supply
Built-in protection includes over-current, over-temperature, and reverse polarity — the regulator shuts down rather than damage the load or itself. The Enable pin lets a microcontroller or supervisor gate the output, cutting quiescent current to near zero when the rail is not needed. Quiescent current is 750 µA typical, which is modest for a linear regulator at this current class — the trade-off is a simpler noise profile compared to a switching converter, making it a fit for analog or RF bias rails where ripple rejection matters more than efficiency.
