The MIC4811YMM is a 6-channel linear LED driver from Microchip designed for constant-current sink applications in signage and display backlighting. Each of the six outputs delivers up to 50 mA, with the total device current limited by the thermal dissipation of the 10-MSOP package. The linear topology means no inductor or switching noise — the output current is set by an internal current reference, so the LED brightness is consistent across channels without external ballast resistors.
PWM dimming — colour-stable brightness control
The PWM dimming input allows the LED current to be gated on and off with an external PWM signal, typically from a microcontroller or system controller. Because the driver is linear, the PWM switching does not shift the LED colour temperature — the current amplitude during the on-time stays at the full 50 mA level, so the chromaticity remains constant across the dimming range.
