Boost Regulator for Tight Spaces: 2 MHz, 500 mA Switch, 8-MLF
The Microchip MIC2606YML-TR is a step-up boost regulator in an 8-MLF (2x2 mm) package, switching at 2 MHz and rated for a 500 mA internal switch. Output is adjustable from a 4.5 V minimum up to the 40 V switch rating. Positive output configuration, no synchronous rectifier.
2 MHz Switching — Inductor Size vs. Efficiency Trade
At 2 MHz the switching period is 500 ns, which pushes the inductor into the 1 µH to 4.7 µH range at the 500 mA switch current limit. That's a 2x2 mm or 3x3 mm inductor, matching the 8-MLF footprint for a total power-stage area under 25 mm². The 500 mA switch rating is the peak current limit, not the DC output.
Temperature Grade: Industrial to 125 °C Junction — Not Automotive-Qualified
For a chassis-mounted sensor module or an infotainment power supply the temperature grade is adequate; for an engine-control or transmission-mounted boost converter the OEM auditor will ask for PPAP documentation that does not exist for this part.
