2A, 4 MHz — the switching regulator for tight board space
The MIC23150-4YMT-TR is a 2A step-down buck converter from Microchip's HyperLight Load® series, switching at 4 MHz. That switching frequency lets you use a 1 µH or smaller inductor and 10 µF output caps — the whole power stage fits in about 25 mm² of board area. The 2.7V to 5.5V input range covers single-cell Li-ion (3.0-4.2V) and fixed 3.3V or 5V rails, making it a drop-in for portable gear, IoT nodes, and peripheral power. It's a synchronous buck with a fixed 1.2V output — no external feedback divider needed. The internal FETs and synchronous rectifier keep efficiency above 85% across most of the load range, which matters when you're running from a battery and every milliwatt counts. The -40°C to +125°C junction temperature rating means it handles industrial ambient without derating, and the 8-TDFN (2x2 mm) package is small enough to fit under a shield can.
