Key ratings and what they mean for the board
The MIC2043-1YM: Rated for a continuous output current of 3 A max, with a typical on-resistance of 40 mOhm. At 3 A the conduction loss is I²R = 0.36 W — the 8-SOIC copper pad area under the die sets the thermal budget; a 1 oz pour on the PCB keeps the junction below the 85 °C ambient limit. The supply (Vcc/Vdd) range is the same, so the same rail can drive the gate drive and the load. Fault protection includes adjustable current limiting, open-load detection, over-temperature shutdown, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO). The Status Flag output signals a fault condition to the host controller — useful for hot-swap or USB port power management where the system needs to know when a port is overloaded.
ROHS3 compliant — no restricted substances per the latest EU directive.
